By about the 3 mile point, you will begin to see the massive Cook Island Pines that line the Munro Trail. These were brought in by a ranch manger by the name of George Munro in the early 1900's. It was his idea to plant Cook Pines on the island of Lana'i to help stop the soil erosion that was taking place on the island due to previous poor land management.
