Giclee Wildlife Print - Silversword

The unique Silversword plant grows only on the tall volcanic peaks of the islands of Maui and Hawaii. This exotic plant can take up to 30 years to mature... then it blooms only once, with a spectacular display of up to 500 purplish flowers, before it dies. Early Hawaiians called this plant "ahinahina", meaning "white-haired". The narrow leaves, at the bottom of the plant, are covered with silken white hairs that reduce the adverse effects of strong tropical sunlight at high altitudes. This beautiful plant was photographed at the top of Haleakala Crater on the island of Maui... at an altitude of over 10,000 feet above sea level.

"Silversword" makes a beautiful giclee wildlife print. This 16" x 24" canvas print is stretched over a wood frame. Because no glass is needed (similar to a painting on canvas), the piece is light and easy to hang. A wonderful addition for home or office.
